Which part of Chicago is the safest and most affordable out of these 4 areas in and near Chicago: Pilsen, Downtown Chicago, Harvey, and Gary,Indianna?

The safest but most expensive is Downtown Chicago. By most expensive, I mean most who live there earn 80k plus a year to afford the cost of living. Stay as far away from Harvey and Gary as possible. There aren’t jobs there. They are notorious for being bad neighborhoods. My family years left Gary for  Read more »

If you are in the Memphis Tn area ?

Depends on what position you’re looking at. If you’re looking at package handler, then no, you don’t need experience. If you’re looking at management at one of the facilities or hubs, then you need experience. Since you asked about Memphis and are wondering about Corporate, than you’d need experience and a college degree.  Good time  Read more »

Washington dc project?

I’d discuss some of the most important items they have on display there, with a paragraph (or two) on each, including: –The Wright Brothers Flyer (the first airplane) –The Spirit of St. Louis (the first airplane to be piloted solo across the Atlantic) –The Apollo 11 Moon Capsule (in which the first astronauts to land  Read more »

New York City trip. Need cute outfits!?

You know, I live in NYC, and I read questions like yours from time to time.  I saw these questions in a different light just yesterday, when I saw a bunch of teen-aged tourists who were dressed in “chic” outfits goofing around in the ladies room in Manhattan. They were wearing clothes that were WAY  Read more »

What is California like?

I’m really hoping you didn’t choose Cal State Northridge (NOT UC Northridge) because you thought you could be an actor. SoCal is very hard to describe. It is unlike anything you have seen before. There is no central hub (like a downtown), with suburbs circling around it. It is one solid mass of urban and  Read more »

Good area in California to live in that is near to Hollywood?

If you’re thinking of moving here to be close to all your “auditions”, think again. Production occurs ALL OVER SoCal. Auditions can be (and are) anywhere. So your question really is moot. The answer to this really lies in the answer to the question, “Where do you work”? It’s not good at all to live  Read more »

Visiting NYC for a week?

Hi. I’d figure at least $40 a day. I know that sounds like a lot if you’re going to eat at McDonald’s every day. But you probably won’t eat at McDonald’s for every meal, right? So, even if you stay at modest restaurants, everything costs more in NY. It can be hard to get a  Read more »

How many people in America have heard of Catalina Island in California?

Harmony, rather than try to quantify your answer which can be challenged and refuted by a non scientific sample, start your speech by suggesting that when compared to other islands bordering states in the United States not many people have ever heard of Catalina Island! Then tell everyone where it is, how one gets there,  Read more »

Which of these greyhound bus stops is closest to Chicago Midway Airport?

“Chicago IL” and “Chicago Express” are both the same place located at 630 W Harrison St. The others have like one or two buses a day stopping there. (“Union Station” and “Amtrak(e)” are the same place a couple of blocks away from the “Chicago IL” station.) In any case, you will want to go to  Read more »

Santa Barbara or Santa Maria? ?

Santa Barbara. There are lots of things to do there: Parks, the beach, Santa Barbara Mission, State Street, and more. Santa Maria has nothing even close to that.  I’m somewhat tempted to say “duh”, but seeing that you’re from Canada, I’ll cut you a break. It’s not even close.  If you have little ones, there’s  Read more »

Where’s the best, most affordable place to live & work that’s close enough to NYC to visit on an off day?

Geez….why are there so many lame answers today? I live in Brooklyn, so I can tell you where in Brooklyn. There are neighborhoods in Brooklyn that are safe, family oriented, but a little further from Manhattan and not as chic as some of the hot Brooklyn neighborhoods. The trade of is cheaper rent. I would  Read more »

What city do you like better and why, London or New york???

OK so they are cities with a similar population size. London is way cleaner, has way more history, green spaces, culture, fashion, more influence, more intelligence, surrounding countryside (in a much smaller country) better restaurants, better infrastructure……… you name it. A far more superior well rounded city. NYC on the other hand is a relativly  Read more »

My friend, Cambridge, MA is located about 215 miles (346km) northeast of New York City. It is is four hour drive from the Big Apple. Now, if you don’t want to drive from NYC to Cambridge, you can still get there by train via Boston. You can take Amtrak from New York Penn Station to  Read more »

How Did Chicago Reverse the River?

It was a very complicated engineering feat, but it included the following actions: 1. Building a set of locks and water control mechanisms where the Chicago River meets Lake Michigan. 2. Building some canals south of the city 3. Connecting parts of the Chicago River to the canals and rivers southwest of the city 4.  Read more »

What are these Manhattan areas like?

Some of the areas you mention are too vague. Flatiron district is about 23rd street and 5th avenue. It is not filled with skyscrapers all over the place like midtown. It may have some new highrise buildings but for the most part buildings vary from about 5 flights to maybe 15. It’s a little bit  Read more »
